Try enabling backing store on the SGI.
If you run:
ps -ef|fgrep X
you probably will see a line like:
root 128782 814 0 Nov 10 ? 0:01
/usr/bin/X11/Xsgi -bs -nobitscale -c -pseudomap 4sight -solidroot
sgilightblue
The "-bs" option tells Xsgi not to allow backingstore.
In /var/X11/xdm, edit the file Xservers and remove the "-bs" flag.
- you probably need to reboot, as SGI's normally don't restart the X
server
when logging out and in again.
