seriously consider an ibm thinkpad.  i personally own a dell
inspiron 7500, and a friend more recently bought a thinkpad.
if i had to do it over, i'd go with the thinkpad, and with ibm's
recent $1B investment in linux over the long haul, you can feel
pretty good that they're serious about this.  dell just doesn't
seem to be that committed.
