I've been running win4lin (v1) under Mandrake 7.1 (2.2.16 kernel) on a
Dell Inspiron 5000 since July. Quite solid. Beautiful display
(1400x1050 resolution). I had a little problem getting X up---didn't
read the linux for laptops web page for the Inspiron 5000 carefully
enough. Everything under linux works---audio, video, networking.
My Dell has 0.25 Gbytes main memory, 18 Gig hard drive,
and 750MHz processor.
If you buy from Dell, do _not_ buy a pre-installed Linux box.
Buy a standard Windows box, strip windows, then load linux
properly yourself. Linux from Dell is a classic
"you can have any colour you wish as long as it's black" situation.
You can't even specify how much memory you want.
Since Mandrake runs fine then so should Redhat.
They're kiss'n cousins.
