Network related applications should work as long as they use TCP/IP as the
transport.

I don't have the status on that problem. But several problems with the
Winsock 1.1 interface are "fixed" by using VNET.

Win4Lin does use modules for the several drivers it has, but there are some
things that are required to be done that that just cannot efficiently or safely
done just with modules. One can review the patches to see just what changes
have to be made to the kernel to support the modules. The patches are free
to all. (Free as in free!)
