Say it, brother! I have used vmware and win4lin since Day 1. One thing
that has annoyed me from the beginning with win4lin is the unstable
networking - having to restart win98 several times/hour to fix the
socket/whatever leaks, oddball behavior with apps that I don't see using
vmware, etc. Never has netraverse acknowledge any of this. I have a
750mhz K7, so vmware 2.0 speed is acceptable to me (it's mostly slow doing
disk I/O, which isn't a biggie for me except for launching apps). I also
use a telecommuter package (checkpoint secureremote) that requires a real
tcp/ip stack, so I have to keep a vmware installation of win98 or win2000
for that, if nothing else. The speed of win4lin is nice, but not at the
usability cost :(
