Does it run by itself? If not, it's an application that runs under/on
Linux. Its task is to emulate a PC so that you can run Windows on
it. If you think about it, this is the worst possible sort of
software to maintain compatibility with all the stuff people are
changing. Linux is changing, Windows is changing. Both have multiple
implementations, making 'compatibility' become a nightmare.

I guess the word rhetorical didn't enter your mind as you typed your
response. Thanks for the OS-101 lesson.
Get real. What's this have to do with EITHER Linux or Windows changing? As
far as I'm concerned, this is the business TreLos/A.K.A. NeTraverse decided
to enter into. As such, support is their problem. Upgrades are their
problem. They need to find a way to make the model work, which is going to
be very difficult. 5-10 flavors of Windows and 5-1000 flavors of Linux make
a pretty large compatibility matrix. Throw a few hundred applications on top
of that and there aren't enough seconds since the big bang to test it all.
W4L is an app that only works 'so well'. The problems I spoke about are
real, as evidenced by others here if you don't believe me. NeTraverse will
either fix them or not.
There seem to be a lot of people here who don't agree with you about the
support. I know NeTraverse folks are seeing the e-mails fly by, that's not
the issue. And I acknowledge that they have been helpful with resolving
issues that are known. There are, however, these other persistent problems,
and the question is rather will they instruct us on what is going to get
fixed in the next release of their product or not? (Since this thread has
and continues to be about 3.0 and such...)
In the end, this software is just a tool. NeTraverse will either make it
work well, or it's application will be limited to folks who want to deal
with it's limitation and idiosyncrasies. And how is that any different for
any other piece of software?
With best regards,
Mark
