IIRC, there are some security problems running X as root.  I have
allowed_users=console in my Xwrapper.config and don't have any problems
running win4lin in a separate console with fwin (Debian woody with
XFree 4.02-13), although I usually run it from a running X session (I
added a menu entry for win4lin and ran update-menus).
