Hi Gordon,

not sure if I have missunderstood your query.
caps lock shift ctrl brings up the jaws menu, I can do this on my ultrabook with no insert key present.

Hi

This is my problem. I am without a JAWS key currently. Although I have the
keyboard layout set to Laptop, the caps lock key doesn’t work as the JAWS key
and I cannot find an insert key replacement. I should also explain that JAWS
is running under Windows 8.1 Pro Media Centre inside of a virtual machine. The
host OS is not in any way using the caps lock key, I’ve totally disabled that.

To change punctuation on the fly from anywhere, press Jaws+v to bring the
verbosity menu. It'll bring up all the settings without the need to run through
start up wizard.
Good luck :)

Hi Mary

You’ve just answered the question. I had it set to “Some”. Tomorrow, I shall
change it pronto!

Kindest regards

Well... I have punctuation set to none, and JAWS doesn't say dot dot dot unless
I spell it out.Punctuation can also be changed in the startup wizard.

Hi Mary

Yes, that occurred to me as well actually. Hey, is there a way to have Jaws
stop saying things like “Blah dot dot dot””? I’d rather just hear the “Blah”
bit. I am using the Serena Vocalizer Expressive voice and, although she sounds
pale in comparison to the Acapela voices, she seems to work better with Jaws.
Point here is that I have the voice set to speak very fast and I for some
reason find the “dot dot dot” a bit irritating.

Kindest regards

You can change the keyboard layout setting in the startup wizard. I have found
that is the easiest.
