   Well, actually IIRC, the FHS would say to put it in /var/lib/wine. I
believe that's were things that are host specific and variable are
supposed to be installed. 
   But it's best if you check yourself rather than rely on my memory. 
   Plus the FHS is good reading (at least to get to sleep :-).
