[Winona Online Democracy]

Wally and all:

I've been wondering if this discussion of vision might be something we can
move into some kind of action. Might we wish to take our concerns directly
to the elected officials who sit on the Port Authority? We can use the
links on our new web site to email them. I wonder just how many emails we
could generate? Here's an example of some text that anyone could copy and
edit to fit their particular points of view and knowledge:

Dear Councilman Mielimonka, County Board Representative Krage, and other
members of the Port Auothority:

Lately, the members of Winona Online Democracy have been having a lively
discussion about economic development in Winona. Of course this recent
activity has been a response to the Wal-Mart controversy, however, this has
been a thread in many of our discussions over the past few years.

Public input into development decisions and questions about "vision" and
strategic plans for economic development have surfaced.

Include your own comments and questions here.

I invite you to view the archives of our discussion at:
http://www.mnforum.org/pipermail/winona/
and subscribe to our list at:

Sincerely,

Your Name Here

(As I'm typing this I'm reminded of Peter and Lou Berryman's song "Your
State's Name Here" regarding their formula for writing a song about one's
state!!! It's a hoot if you ever get a chance to hear them play)

I guess I'm ready for us to be making a difference as members of WOD and
this is one idea I have. I'm curious about what others think and I'd love
to know if anyone takes action.

Kathy Seifert
