[Winona Online Democracy] Dwayne:
Correction: I made a two part request on behalf of City Council to Bob Reinert. They had two concerns for the meeting: A) That it be televised and recorded clearly. Given that the County Board has taken a public position not to record all its public meetings, the Council wants to be assured that the meeting, all of the public comments, are recorded in such a way that the public has access to whatever statements are made. B) That the attending County Board members not receive a per diem for this County created meeting. The Council would find it offensive that the County Board "might" receive public dollars to be at this meeting, when no one else attending is being paid extra. Eric Sorensen made that and another request today, Tuesday. It's not 100% certain if it can be arranged on short notice but a strong attempt will be made. It should be an interesting meeting. I think most, if not all of the Wilson Town Board and County Board will be there. I'm not sure how many City Council members will come. Some interesting topics may be discussed; including economics, the environment, taxes, farm land, traffic, growth, annexation, long range planning, and other development related issues. A meeting like this has not happened in a long time, it holds much potential. If the local elected bodies can work together to solve issues that affect all of us, good things can happen. The meeting is open and the public is welcome to attend but there will not be a public comment period. The meeting is at 4:00 p.m. in the County Government Center, Board Room, 2nd floor. (It's the old Norwest Building, kitty corner from Winona National Bank). If you can not attend the meeting, consider watching it on t.v. or video taping it. Please pass the word on to others who might be interested in the topic. After the meeting, I would be interested in hearing feedback and suggestions from those who watched.
