I have to tell you to start with that I was very
much against the closing of the Lincoln building. One of the reason was
because I remember when some of these programs were scattered all over the
district and now they finally had one home and teachers could team teach or talk
to each other about the needs of different students. The offices were
all in one place and there is parking for staff, parents and
visitors..
Now that the sale is final??? Can we still back
out?
Committee's have been working to find places for
all the Lincoln people and Mr Gorman and his group came up with some good ideas,
but I still don't like the move.
Moving the main offices to the high school is not
one of the good ideas. I would like someone who knows answer a couple of
questions I have about this.
1. Is it true the Hiawatha Coop offered their
building for offices and they would move to the Rollingstone building?
Wouldn't that been much better place, rather than cut up the space at the high
school?
2. Is it true if the new offices and library and
media center were built at the high school, there won't be any money to buy
books or more media equipment to fill it?
I have to tell you at first I thought moving to the
high school wouldn't be to bad, seeing how much the cost is really changed my
mind fast.
3. Was Dr. Wondrasch ever asked what she thought
about the plans? Since she is the principal you would think she would have
some say in the plans.
People don't wait until the 3rd of Feb. to get your
say in, whether for or against, because I think this plan will be pushed through
on that night.
I voted for the referendum, but another one will
not have a chance on passing if we continue to hurt students. Blame the
people who voted no, if your child, grandchild don't get the classes they
need. I do believe Mr Durand did his job trying to get the referendum
passed.
All the school districts in Minnesota are having
the same problems, well maybe not Edina.
We need to get more Federal and state money in our
schools or not have so many mandates with no money following to carry them
through.
Call the board and tell them what you
think. Ruth Marg
