I have to say I disagree with the construction project at the High School as well. I don't think putting a million plus into creating offices at the HS looks good when the District is cutting programs right and left. I understand it's two different pots of money, but it still does not look good to the general public... Personally i think they should move the 5th graders back to the grade schools and put the administration into the 5th grade wing at the middle school. If you put some dividers in a classroom you could have some nice offices.
But what I'm really bothered by is the elimination of not only the High School musical, but now the marching band. When did this community decide that our children do not deserve all that we had when we were in school? I am now seriously considering another High School for my kids because I want them to have the opportunities my husband and i had. The district will lose even more money if other families feel the same way. It must be heartbraking for the Board to make these decisions. Quite frankly I think they should just eliminate all extra-curriculars including all sports immediately and just be done with it. I don't see any other way to trim over $2 million from this budget.
