[Winona Online Democracy] Here are two education related items...
1. What do people think of last Thursday's School Board meeting? 2. Tomorrow morning there will be a speaker addressing the topic of alternative school funding. I'm not familiar with the speaker but the topic seems interesting. Please see below. Dwayne Voegeli May 23, 2005 ------ The PHASED Board of Directors has a very special meeting planned for you this month. The topic will be Alternative Funding Sources for Education. Across the country and in virtually every state discussions are underway on the topic of funding education. Within those discussions one is hard-pressed to find more than a handful of people who will entertain school finance in any other way than raising taxes at the state and local levels. Clearly, local boards and administrators have to put on their business hats and create alternative funding sources. Dr. Charles A Speaker, MN Department of Education, will address the topic at the upcoming PHASED breakfast meeting on May 24, 2005 at the New Student Activity Center in the lower level of Kryzsko Commons, Winona State University, at 7:00 AM. Some people will remember this area as the Bowling Alley and Games Room at Winona State University. John Ferden has graciously supplied the following directions. Directions to Kryzsko -Exit Huff Street at one of three parking lot entrances between Mark Street (11th) and King Street (9th). -Park in any area of the lot--not identified as a restricted (accessible) parking area. -Go to entrance located below the American and Minnesota flags (also located near the anchor, large boat propeller & and the seagull atop the post)! -Once inside the building, go down the steps (or take elevator just inside the entryway) to the lower floor. -New Student Activity Center is on the lower level. ------------ Dwayne Voegeli Winona County Commissioner (507) 453-9012 [EMAIL PROTECTED] 359 Pleasant Hill Dr. Winona, MN 55987 ------------ _______________________________________________ This message was posted to Winona Online Democracy All messages must be signed by the senders actual name.
