"Alternative Fuel Fact Sheet," has been published by the U. S. Department of
Energy. The report includes a list of most of the cars that now can
use E85. Although E85 has been cheaper than regular gasoline (because
of subsidies), it does have less energy per gallon. For example, a Dodge Caravan
with E85 got 16.4 mpg in combined city and highway driving compared to 22.5 mpg
with regular gasoline over the same area. A Ford Taurus had similar comparative
results.
