Craig Brooks is correct. The law allows for
school districts to spend money for only TWO reasons:
1) to educate the public
2) urge them to go to the polls
and vote
They are NOT allowed to pay for advertising to urge the
voter to vote yes or no on any issue.
Speakers from the district are not paid to address groups
to educate them. That time is volunteered as they have their regular job
to do (which by the way, are truly overwhelming with so many cuts made in
administration and teaching faculty and support staff)
Any ads or signs that were out there urging a 'yes'
vote were all done by private donations. That is the Law.
