Ms. Fort,
I will attempt to answer your concerns. And I would hope this forum
continue to move from using broad brush analogies to more specific
questions and without all inclusive branding
Regarding the Lincoln issue. It seems to have been addressed at
least 10 times, but perhaps not clearly enough.
1. My understanding is that Lincoln was sold at the value of the
land - since renovation by any new owner of the building would be
cost prohibitive.
2. To be clear ------We HAVE NOT decided on any new building - it is
one possible solution. I'd appreciate other ideas, and the ones
that we have received will be considered.
But at the end of the day ALC - must be moved.
3. Mr. May approached us with the proposal to build and lease back
to us. He has a relationship with the district with the Greenhouse
used by our students. I've never met him, but appreciate his
willingness to come forward with an idea. And I appreciate all the
others who have come to the plate with constructive ideas.
4. Trust. I am not perfect and will make mistakes. But while
voters may be upset and may line up to vote me out of office that is
how things will work out. After 4 years of serving I am certainly
not sure if I would be interested. But again that is a long ways
away.
The ALC should of been taken care of years ago. They were placed in
the big O bar as a 3 or 4 month temp placement. Now years have gone
by and those students with some of the most needs continue to be out
of sight, out of mind. So - in my opinion we need to find them a
better educational facility. This may be already existing space,
some alternative scheduling or perhaps new space.
I hope this helps.
Respectfully,
Kelly P Herold
