C'mon guys. Cool your jets. Mr. Woodford, for every economist that claims tax
cuts grow the economy I can find you one that says increased government
spending (funded by taxes) grows the economy. In truth both techniques work. I
guess the real question we should ALL be asking is whether the tax cuts can
grow the economy fast enough to pay the rapidly increasing deficits caused by
the increased government spending of this administration. You see, the current
administration seems to have gotten these two basic fundamental principles
mixed up. They've cut taxes AND increased government spending. I don't think
that is one of the economic growth models in the economics texts I have on MY
shelf.

We are running down a hill. Eventually we will trip and fall on our noses (or
rather our children will).

And finally, I get big kick out of conservatives who end their tirades by
observing how hateful all liberals are towards conservatives. Sounds like pots
calling the kettles black to me.

When you make ad hominem arguments against stereotyped "liberals" and
"conservatives" you just make yourselves look silly.

  Hmmm,
9 of those quarters were the worst of the post war era? Heck yea! of course
they were, they were directly after 9-11. If I remember correctly all of you
libs were playing Chicken Little screaming that the sky was falling and the
economy was about to collapse and we were essentially going to have to revert
to an agrarian economy. It didn't happen did it? The economy IS robust, I cant
think of another one on the planet I would rather be working in right now
(okay, I take that back, it would be a great time to be doing business in China
if I could stand to live under that type of govt, there is a LOT of $$$ being
made there right now).
Mr Bothun, you can try to spin my head with statistics you pull off of govt
websites all day, it's not going to work, why? because you are dead wrong. You
even admitted it just now when you backpedaled on the tax issue. After I
pointed the fallacy in your premise you agreed that the tax cuts worked...so
that leads me to ask one question....What are we debating? We aren't... You
just agreed with my point regarding the tax cuts...they DID work and now we
have a 4% +/- unemployment rate (a theoretical ZERO according to all
economists) and it is even lower in Winona County.

The tax cuts worked, Thank you for agreeing with me. I would also like to
take this time to thank our President, George W. Bush, for enacting the tax
cuts which have made it possible for me to continue live the lifestyle I lead
and to open up further opportunities for all Americans to pursue their dreams.

Please remember this Mr Bothun, absolutely NO other country in the world
offers us the social mobility we have come to take for granted. We live in the
best economic model ever made. The only thing (aside from physical limitations
) holding anyone in this country back from being successful professionally of
financially is their own lack of motivation to succeed.

  God Bless America!

    Booming Economy?

There have been 238 Quarters in the postwar era. Of the 24 Quarters since
January 2000 the best quarter ranks only 56th from the top with only seven
of
those quarters in the top half(120). Nine of those 24 quarters are among the
50 worst of the post-war era and 17 were in the bottom half.

Hmmm, on second thought. It would seem that my argument benefits from a
causal
link between tax cuts and GDP growth (or lack thereof).

I agree with you that the GDP growth of the last 24 quarters was the result
of
    Tax Policy, not Divine Intervention.
