Polyethylene is already one of the most recyclable plastics in the market.
Without UV inhibitors it will break down in sunlight. It is the same PE
plastic that is used in milk bottles and containment liners for landfills as
it will resist many chemicals. In addition to the household recycling,
using the bags for other uses, they store easier and when they get wet,
unlike paper, they are still reusable.

I like to use them in my car since most don't come equipped with a waste
basket and then the junk including liquids can be disposed of when I fill up
or go home.

And when the question is asked Paper or Plastic? ------ I vote for plastic.

Subject: [Winona] eliminating plastic bags in Winona

I see that San Francisco is considering making it illegal to use plastic
shopping bags in their city. Would it be possible to consider that as part
of the Winona County efforts on reducing consumption of petroleum products?

In Atlanta one of the large grocery stores offers a place to bring excess
plastic bags that we all accumulate. Is there anyone interested in setting
up a possible site to receive excess plastic bags?

Thanks
