We have our cable vendor hang the AP's when they are running the cabling. We configure and label them in advance and hand it off to the vendor for installation with a labeled AutoCAD drawing of the building so they know exactly where to install each one. Instead of having data jacks installed at the ceiling level, we have the vendor terminate the end of the cable with an RJ45 and plug it directly into the AP. It doesn't add too much extra time for AP installation since the contractor is there anyway. In many cases we also have the vendor patch them for us in the data closet. For new construction we lay out the AP's ourselves in the CAD drawings and test the coverage once the equipment has been installed.

Do you handle that within the same team that manages the wireless network or is it a separate group that installs the equipment? How do you go about having the data jacks installed? Just as an estimation, approximately how long does it take to have an AP installed? For buildings that are still in the planning phase, do you design the AP locations into the building based on CAD drawings ahead of time? Or do you perform an on-site survey after the building is open and then proceed with installation? Any and all comments are appreciated.
