We upgraded all of our WiSM controllers to WiSM2 last August and have been quite happy with the results. The WiSM2s are supporting 5,334 APs in roughly 170 buildings and sites. We have a mix of AP models, mostly 1242s and 1142s and including several hundred 3502s. Peak client count in the last semester reached over 28K. The WiSM2s have been stable and the greatly increased CPU capacity has made code upgrades much easier to achieve, given the ability to simultaneously download code into all APs. That made it possible to upgrade a controller with 300 APs in approx 10 minutes as timed from typing "reset system" to when all APs are back up and joined and clients being acquired. The speed of AP upgrades makes it possible to dispense with AP predownload. -Charles Charles E.
