Hello Everyone, I have been looking into seting up
a wireless bridge between 2 companies (1.6 mile) and i have recieved some great
support from peeps on this list, Thanks
I have tested the link with 2 x hyperlink 15db mini
grid antennas and my orinoco based cards and. I could happily get
11mbps. I now have to purchase the wireless units. I have been looking at the
new WAP54G from linksys. I believe 2 of these will bridge together nicely and i
have heard that they have POE (Power over Ethernet) capabilities too.
Does anyone have any experience with these units?
Is there anywhere i can find out about the POE
specification, it looks like i will have to make a box to splice the power into
the Ethernet lead but i am unsure which leads are free?
Does anyone know how i can attenuate the broadcast
power without affecting my sensitivity. IE, i am exceeding legal limits at the
moment, so i would like to drop my output power but not drop my
sensitivity?
Also, would people be interested if a table
(Database) was setup where everyone could input there wireless link
details. EG recieve sense/distance/SNR/equipment used/comments etc
etc. This would allow other users to make comparisons with similar gear. It
could also highlight to some users that there system is working under
par.
Thanks
Richy
