I have no great love for companies that are either "large" (by some
suitable definition) or telcos.

Back around 1997-2000, it was my perception that Pac*Bell actually was
fairly responsive to abuse reports I sent in; that was one of the
reasons I signed up for their residential DSL when it became available
where I live. I certainly cannot honestly claim that they are
responsive to abuse reports now. (To clarify: I now get an auto-response
and nothing further; in particular, I don't see that whatever they are
doing has much effect. Previously, I would often get a response,
apparently from a human, letting me know that justice had ben served.)

Nor do I find Pac*Bell's current DSL offerings very attractive.

That said, I am (still) using Pac*Bell (by whatever name is current)
residential DSL with a (single) static IP address that I got in Auguust,
1999. And for the past couple of years, it has been working very well.

Mind, I use Pac*Bell only for transport: I run my own SMTP, HTTP, and
name servers.

Peace,
david

Based on what I have seen to date, the use of Microsoft products is not
consistent with reliability. I recommend FreeBSD for reliable systems.
