Quite a few carriers (I think Rogers in Canada had also announced something
similar) are planning to use pay-phones for WiFi access. While it does
seem to solve the issue of backhaul, has anyone on the group actually
seen a deployment? Are these payphones near places where you can actually
sit and browse for an hour in relative peace? Having WiFi access in Borders,
Starbucks, libraries or for that matter even in MacDonalds also has the
advantage that you have a place to sit (& possible even recharge your
laptop battery as you browse). Thoughts on these payphone-hotspots? The
location is convenient for the people deploying, but what about the customers?
