If you're looking at a T1 for $550 then this is probably not a real T1.
Unless this is a favor from a friend or does not include bandwidth charges
this might not be a clear/full T1. Some ISP's will implement a PPP over ATM
"T1". This usually goes through the same (almost always very over
subscribed) ATM network that the ISP provides access to it's DSL customers.
After all the overhead you're lucky if you get a meg out of it. The other
disadvantage is also latency. 20-30ms to your default gateway is not
uncommon and can be in the hundreds of ms to the next hop.

Now I am a little biased (since my company offers T1 service as one of it's
main products). Our list pricing is $699 and only in very rare cases we're
not able to match or beat a competitors T1 pricing.

If I were you I'd be very weary. You shouldn't have to pay $550 for DSL
equivalent service.

Just my $.02
