It ain't BAWUG but a WiFi meet-up happens every month in SF. Much less 
formal but always in the same town and on the same day every month.

Plus you get to vote on the venue and agenda items:

Usually we just show up at peoples offices, demand conference room 
space and

take over for a few hours.  Speakers just sort of randomly show 
up.....
