I originally had my cantenna mounted on a 18in DirectTV dish. This morning
I was on the roof to remount the cantenna without the dish. During the time
I was up there NetStumbler saw BARWN-Public, but the node was 'dead' by the
time I got back down and looked at NetStumbler. I'm encouraged yet
perplexed. I went back up and very slowly scanned large arc's with the
cantenna, toward and around the node's direction. When I checked
NetStumbler, BARWN-Public had NOT been seen again. At this time the
cantenna is mounted without the dish, and is pointed directly at the spot on
Mt. SB I know the node to be, but BARWN-Public is not showing up.

Assuming the other dimensions of the cantenna are correct, and LoS is
totally clear, do you believe a waveguide cantenna with a 3.5 inch diameter
mouth should be able to adequetly connect to the BARWN Mt. SB node from a
distance of 3.5 miles?

Any feedback or advice you have is appreciated.

Thanks,

-dave
