My condo association (20x3 floor townhhomes arranged in a C shape) has
voted to put in a wireless network

TXXX XXXX
X X
X X
X X
X X
X GGG X
X GGG X

where each X represents a 3 story "unit"
and the Gs represent a 1 story gazebo (it has ac power)
T represents the location of the telephone connection and is where the
upstream connection comes in.

This sides of this box are about 100M.

There are two options we're considering
1) an AP in T and an outdoor omni antenna on the roof (3 floors up)
2) an AP in T briding to a second AP in GGG with no fancy antenna setup.

I'm considering the dlink professional grade equipment
dwl-1000ap+ and dwl1700ap for this work.
But it's pretty expensive and it might make sense to get 802.11a
equipment instead?

Anybody have experience with 802.11a in the real world yet?
What hardware would you use?

thanks in advance!

brad
