Cliff - Since (I presume) you know SF much better than I, what location (wifi cafe, or such) would you recommend for tomorrow=Fricay's meeting? I looked on Free Wi-Fi Cafes in San Francisco http://www.cheesebikini.com/archives/000256.html#000056 and searched for "dana" & found nothing. (Do they have 802.11b there?) Since I said I'd make a suggestion of a location to meet if I didn't hear back from Michael Ray by the end of today, it looks like I'll need to do that. I doubt that there'd be 40 people showing up given that the meeting date wasn't long planned in advance, and there's no major speaker to be a big draw, and that there havent been any meetings for several months (so people are out of the habit of thinking about going to a BAWUG meeting). But, I'm open to a positive surprise. :) TOPIC OF THE MONTH: The big draw (topic) for this month is: we'll CHAT ABOUT ANYTHING RELATED TO WIFI. Plus, as a special bonus, if anyone asks me about it, I'll mention about "How you can particiape in wifi at the World Wide Free SW Video Conference & SW Development Fest". :) Any nice place will do. So, here's what lets do: 1) If Michael Ray can get a spot at SFSU, & posts it to this list before 3PM Friday 10/23, we'll meet where he says to meet. 2) Lacking #1, If Cliff posts a location for the meeting for anyplace before 3PM, we'll meet there. 3) Lacking #1 & #2, we'll meet at: 30 Cup a Joe: It's "a great cafe with good light, couches upstairs, lots of plugs, and the best banana bread around," according to Corii Liau. Thanks for the tip, Corii. 1901 Hayes Street, at Ashbury. Added 5/24/03. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&addtohistory=&address=1901+Hayes+St&city=san+francisco&state=ca&zipcode=&homesubmit=Get+Map It sounds like a nice place. Also, if it's no good, there are several locations listed on cheesebikini that are nearby that we can move to. Meeting time is 6 PM - 9+ PM. Whoever gets there first, make a sign that says "BAWUB" & put it on your table (next to your wifi'd laptop!). Laptops & wifi __NOT__ required by meeting attendees. See you there! :) (Ps - watch this BAWUG mail list for last minute breaking news/announcements :) ) -- http://www.fastmail.fm - I mean, what is it about a decent email service? -- general wireless list, a bawug thing <http://www.bawug.org/> [un]subscribe: http://lists.bawug.org/mailman/listinfo/wireless
