Right, since the Proxim is an access point, you could put an atheros mini pci card in a soekris and have it run in client mode with a set of 5ghz antennas connecting to the Proxim ap.

you could do something super cheap:

I have 2 of these units and they bridge fine with the stand-alone v.2 fw
(bridging, as in - 802.11>802.3) Of course trying to shoehorn linux on the board brings it's own fun, but it
seems more practical in this case to run auxiliary functions on a remote
host.
