1.5mb is "fast" because its the "same" as a T1 @ 1000/mo (this is from
a talk with the local telco). They sell 256kbit DSL @ 50/mo. They
could sell more for less, but why bother when they have no
competition? It is not a lack of interested parties, its a lack of
copper access.
