Hi, They just want to see that user A went to site B at time C. They basically just want to be Big Brother on their network (and it's a government agency, so they can). For the more technical people, the best packet tracking program I have ever seen is IpAudit. We have run it on our own backbone for almost 3 years now. It somehow grabs every single packet, logs it, and then saves it with _very_ minimal load on the PC. We have it running on a P4/2.8ghz with 1GB of RAM and it keeps up fine with 120Mbps incoming x 50Mbps outgoing traffic (30,000pps total). It has a web front end that enables my 1st level techs to check people's IP addresses to see if it looks like they are infected with a virus, worm, etc. It really is a quite amazing program, especially for free. The only problem is you have to be somewhat technical to even use it, and my customer needs something very simple to use. Travis Microserv David E.
