It might be a little bit. But ONLY if you use the GOOD stuff. I pay just short of $7 per roll, not $2.
It also helps force the rubber blob into all the nooks and crannies. Often as not I come back a couple of years down the road and find that the vinyl tape has actually drifted clear off the connector.
