I generally agree.

However, everything on the other end of the network is either enforced 
as PPPOE-only, or stuff we manage (ups monitoring, etc.).  No problems 
with packet storms, arp tables, etc.  I've seen a couple big flat nets 
with dhcp servers on the far side.. it's crazy.
