I don’t feel that that is an accurate statement.

It’s easy to become cynical given the rhetoric that stands for political
discourse these days, but the reality is more complex.

The commissioners all have their own personal opinions on what is best for the
country and it reflects their political leanings. The generality that the
Democrats are pro-consumer and against big business is generally true, while
the Republicans often consider big business as the way to get big things done.
Leaving either party in charge for too long leads to trouble..

The commissioners are heavily influenced by the steady stream of lawyers and
interest groups that parade through their offices. They routinely see the big
companies that can afford to be there - and it takes significant money to keep
that presence in front of the FCC. Given that the majority of what the FCC
hears comes from the big carriers it’s not surprising that they tend to echo
the big carrier message.

It’s not money to them that buys their votes - it’s money that keeps the big
company viewpoint in front of them and drowns out everything else.

That WISPA can get results without being in DC every day speaks to the
commissioners interest in hearing from organizations actually serving rural
America.
