I think you have this one all figured out, it can and does happen all the time, enable WEP on the one router and WPA on the other, link the two together via the linksys for Ethernet connection. Should work flawless. This is similar to what I do for work, using 802.1x on one SSID and WEB auth through the other, just at work it's on the same AP.

Hi, I'm new to wireless networking and this discussion group, so bear with me! I just got my wireless network upgraded to .11g (no thanks to tech support!) I have a new Lynksys WRT54gs router setup as a DHCP server to two wireless laptops: 1) brand new Toshiba Tecra running Win XP with a built-in Intel(R)/Pro Wireless 2200BG Network connection, and 2) old Toshiba Satellite running Win Me connected with a Belkin F5D7010 wireless notebook adapter. They are now running flawlessly at 54mps, SSID broadcast disabled, MAC filtering enabled, WEP 128 encryption enabled. However, I understand that Win Me will not support WPA, so I was going to daisy-chain a cheap Belkin router to my network and have the Win Me laptop run from that using WEP, and have the new XP box run from the Linksys with WPA encryption. Can this be done? The routers would necessarily be in close proximity. If this can be done, would I split the ethernet coming off the modem and connect to the two routers, or connect the Belkin to the Lyknsys via one of the 4 ports and disable DHCP from the Belkin? Thanks for any help. Colleen --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - Helps protect you from nasty viruses.
