Here is another point of view: The total cost of ownership, as they say, includes everything. So it's an ASP shop. We'll lets look at the all the technology in place.
Database: Witango: MS-SQL / ASP: MS-SQL Browser: Wintango: IE / ASP: IE Scripting language: Witango: Javascript / ASP: Javascript Web server: Witango: IIS / ASP: IIS Network Server: Witango: Win2000 / ASP: Win2000 Firewall: Witango:? / ASP:? HTML Editor Witango: NotePad / ASP:Notepad IDE: Witango: Witango / ASP: Microsoft So you use a different IDE. Big deal. Everything else can be the same under either environment, and you only need one Witango programmer to 5 ASP programmers. Think about how much money they will save. In fact, here is an opportunity for you to recommend they outsource their entire development effort to you for half of what they are paying the asp programmers. You will be rich and they will be happy. (Be sure to have this conversation with the new owners, not the asp programmers :o) Regards, Len Wright Plus International Corp www.plusinternational.com Direct: 604-415-2384 Fax:604-415-0830 >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 06/21/02 02:03PM >>> Wow... That's cruel and heartless... Hummm.... I like your thinking :-) You could pretty much make it a 5 asp developers to 1 Witango contest. Of course the 1 Witango can get support from this list ;-) Maybe the application could be tied to a printer with pink paper in it. LOL 1. Tango is not as scalable There are some people in Korea that have the numbers to disprove this claim. There might be a white paper on the presentation done at the conference. 2. Tango talent is hard to come by. I really think this one is funny - "" If you post a question to this list and don't get you problem solved within an hour, I would be very surprised :-O Most of the other support lists the people will give you one answer "Go read the book, why are you bothering us with that newbie question, excuse me while I shut the gate to my crystal palace" 3. They know ASP. Last time I checked you can include ASP code within Witango. 4. They want one platform I hope this never happens. Think of it, One hacker breaks the code to that one platform and shuts down the planet. This touches on a great idea... challenge them to a programming match. Think up a quick project, like submitting a short survey to a db and calculating realtime stats on the responses. The five of them sit down with ASP and you sit down with Witango and see who finishes first. I'm putting my money on Witango. Plus, the five ASP nerds could probably learn Witango in less time than it would take to rewrite the project. When that's done, they can fire 3 of them becaus they'll be that much more productive and you'd have save the company their salaries. You can then charge them a consulting fee... :) Is it bad carma to joke about fellow programmers getting fired? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Thomas Ferguson Sent: Friday, June 21, 2002 11:45 AM To: Multiple recipients of list witango-talk Subject: RE: Witango-Talk: Tango / ASP Death Match. They have 5 ASP Programmers? I figure you can develop 5 times faster in Witango than anyone can in ASP. Sounds like a fair fight. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Chuck Lockwood Sent: Friday, June 21, 2002 2:41 PM To: Multiple recipients of list witango-talk Subject: Witango-Talk: Tango / ASP Death Match. A company I developed a extensive Tango application for got sucked up by another company that has 5+ ASP programmers on staff. Surprise, surprise, they want to convert it all to ASP! Their main argument: 1. Tango is not as scalable 2. Tango talent is hard to come by. 3. They know ASP. 4. They want one platform. I need ammunition! War stories, testimonials, a crystal ball, whatever. Who's going to land the first punch?
