Dilemma...Hi if it can be of any use, here is some of my answer (not an
official source of infos):

> 1 What does v5 offer compared to ASP.NET and PHP?

For the current v4/T2K compared to php it will bring better overall
performance, better database support,
and an really handy editor (that you still well know), and all that make T2K
very effective for my projects

> 2 What is missing in the v5 OS X editor compared to Windows?

As I've understand, there will not be any features missing between any of
the editors

> 3 What databases can v5 OS X connect to?

according to the faq on www.witango.com
"The Merant ODBC driver v.3.7 will be included in the new installers and
will be licensed for all platforms" so some more infos may be available on
www.merant.com site

> 4 How does v5 compare to v4 - is it an incremental update (in the sense of
features - like Chimera was) or does it truly beef up Tango to match

I sadly wasn't at the conference but the great Scott report will put some
light on the new comming versions and further developments that was sketched

> 5 Why does WiTango still cost more than any other solution that's
comparable to it? And why is it worth it? (this question IMHO would be
laughed at when the best was ASP or PHP2/3 or a 25k J2ee server, but now...)

For me it's the so called "development time/performance" ratio, even with
the same old version of T2K that you know, it's far more easier to manage a
variety of projects

> 6 How commited is With Enterprises to supporting the Mac as a FIRST CLASS
CITIZEN?

According to all the mails that Phil send to the list, they was all posted
with Microsoft Entourage on Mac, I suspect some of the Witango team to be
totally addict Mac freak, some of them are at the MacWorld conference (see
www.witango.com)

> 7 What are the advantages of compiling WiTango into j2ee?

Since I didn't know any of the details, can't be specific but letting your
customers choose the deployment language platform

> 8 Will the compiled WiTango work on the j2ee server that comes with OS X
Server?

Can't speak since I'm not already a Mac user (but Apple.com seems to push
the switch ;)

> 9 Can one convert a .taf into a .jsp and edit it for more exacting
programming?

still answered :)

> 10 What do you think of the ASP.NET C# to j2ee converter that is out?
Would this compare more favorably than WiTango?

I can't speak about that!

> I am just hoping to get some answers since its been so long since I've
participated in the WiTango community. I'm trying to make a sound business
> and technical decision. Thanks in advance...

I'm sure the next days will bring a lot of news to the Witango communauty,
and answer your questions far better than me :)

finally I'm still impressed how Witango is powerfull for client/server
application development, but the new version will bring many of the really
needed features allowing the most advanced developers to rely even more for
their developments on the new Witango server platform

Gauthier

PS: That was just my thougts
sorry for any redundance and my english, Thanks!
