It would be interesting to know how that occurred.
I must admit I've never had that problem but I still leave multiple copies of tafs around for the inevitable eventuality, or as Murphy's law would have it, the first time I don't backup.

Thank you Atrix and Garth.

It was apparently a corrupt taf file - The one that quit working had grown to
14mb in size (hadn't looked till I got your emails) - the original that I
pulled from a backup was 33k in size - pretty strange - but is working now and
doesn't seem to be growing.

 the file was still open.

 i dunno how youd get it back unless you know XML and how witango uses XML
