AOL has too many DNS servers and too many mx records. I say "too many", because some mail servers get "confused" and refuse to send the e-mail. This is a known problem for some older SMTP servers, like EMWACS IMS.

You may or may not be having this issue.

Additionally, as already suggested by the list, there may be a whitelist/blacklist thing going on at AOL that is causing this grief for you. They are really trying to crack down on SPAM as it's approaching 50% of mail volume. And it's getting worse.

I wish that I had their problem. On one domain I get 500 or more junk to every good e-mail, which means I'm at around 99.8% junk e-mail. 50% would be a relief. Fortunately it's relatively easy to filter out. On the other hand, filtering it slows down my machine considerably and the SPAM sucks up my bandwidth. There has GOT to be a better way...

Subject: Witango-Talk: [OFF TOPIC] Mail server

Hey List,

I have a WiTango ecommerce site. It sends a confirmation email to the client after their order.

For some reason, all the email to AOL is being bounced back. Any other domain is fine. Has anyone encountered this, and is there a way to fix it?

My mail server is set up with tight security, and no spam is being sent from my server.

Thanks,

Rick Sanders, President
