If everyone can hang in there till next week I will be putting together a article/posting that will deal with all these FM7 issues. I am doing an 7 hour per day intensive training in FM7 for FileMaker developers so I will have a lot of hands on info. I also have worked with the FM7 off and on for the last several months as an early tester.

Since FM is 50% of my business and has been for many years I think I can give you all a good sense of where it fits and where it does not and where it is heading.

Just give me time to complete this training since it is pretty exhausting and I’ll try and put something together over the weekend.

Training ends Friday.

I'm jumping in here half way through the thread, so forgive me if I'm missing something but...

If FMP7 has gone multi-table, won't that require a significant amount of redesign/recoding to allow existing apps to take advantage of it? Also, if it is now multi-table, won't that require that existing users who are so dependent on it for ease of use will have to learn how to design in a relational table environment?

In my opinion, doesn't that take away the main reasons for continuing to stay with the product? Wouldn't now be the time to look at the lower cost true SQL compliant servers such as MySQL, OpenBase, R:Base, etc.?

Based on what I've read, if I was heavily invested in FMP solutions, I'd be taking a serious look at whether I would migrate to the new product. It might be time to cut the cord and investigate other options.

Just my 2 cents Cdn.

Will witango be releasing a new version of (OSX) that works with FMP7?

(I hope the answer is yes.)

Me too!

I realise FMP hasn't been the ideal datasource for web applications, but it
has certainly been attractive to many of our clients due to their in-house
dependence upon it.

Now that is going multi-table and multi-threaded it is a better solution
than ever and if WiTango were rev'd to work with it (particularly the
multi-table addressing) then the world would be a better place.

I think I'll go and hunger strike outside the offices. I could use to lose
some weight.
