Hi everybody,
I asked Witango support help for my problem and it
was finally solved.
Witango support said it was an InstallShield VMWare compatibility problem.

They suggested me to install Witango Application on a REAL server then move the installation to the VIRTUAL one.

Then:
I installed Witango Application Server on a real Windows 2003 SP1 Server;
I moved the Program Files\WitangoServer directory;
I moved the WithEnterprise registry entries;
I copied into the Inetpub\Scripts directory the DLL witango55_iis.dll, msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll;
I configured
witango55_iis.dll properly as web service extension in IIS 6.0 and I added ISAPI extention in the Witango sites;
I installed Witango as service.

That's all and now everything works fine.

Best Regards
Francesca

We got the server installed on our server in windows 2003 no problem but never did get the editor installed and figured "oh well...we do dev on our own machines anyways" so it wasn't that big a deal but now im curious how did you get the editor installed on your 2003 server(s)?

I have done 2 installs on Windows 2003,
In one it worked fine, Permissions are a little different in Windows 2003.
(things are defaulted off, not on)
On the other, I continue to have problems running a second installer to
upgrade or change the initial installation. Some how the environment is
different, I suspect that is has something to do with the installer config
and second one having SCSI Drives not IDE or SATA.  - I got around it, but
the editor install is a hack.
I would be interested in hearing about similar experiences and solutions.
Mike

You're both right, I think.

I don't use VMWare's ESX Server product myself, but I believe the Remote
Console is one of the methods used to interact with a particular ESX
"instance" (local and/or remote), which is where the Server software is
running. As I understand it, other Remote software can also be utilized with
ESX.

I do use VMWare Workstation everyday though, and have never had a problem
with it with regards to Witango (any version).

Could it be there is something unusual about the environment configuration
of the ESX instance that Witango doesn't like? Like limited amount of RAM,
Network settings or Processor affinity?

And do you have the latest installer for 5.5?

Hope that helps.

PS. Thank you Ben, for the earlier compliment.
