Ian,

I know you can have more than one source of log files, so I think that would indicate you could aggregate in that way. I'm not entirely sure though if that would allow you to look at results 'by source' - i.e. see stats broken down by server - when you have it set up that way. Unfortunately the 30-day demo does NOT allow for multiple logs, but you might be able to find out looking at the documentation. So I think I've given you 'half-good' news, but that's all I got!

Cheers,

Jason

Follow-on question on the Urchin solution.

Can you use it to aggregate log files into one result, where you have a few webservers serving one domain? The roll-up information is what my client would be interested in, while I am interested in both roll-up stats and the breakdown of information, to be certain that all servers are sharing the load relatively equally, etc., and if they're not, I'll get some helpful insights into why not.

Over ... with thanks,
Ian

Roland -

A good point, but if you use the actual Urchin software it reads logs rather than depend on the JavaScript that the free Google Analytics uses. I currently have some personal stuff using Google, and North stuff using our own version of Urchin. Both are pretty good, but I do prefer the 'host it yourself' option for that (script requirement) reason, not to mention wanting to make sure we retain all the user data rather than give it to Google and just hope it's always available.

Be mindful that Google and other external tools get their data from a javascript that calls their server and sets a 3rd party cookie. That many browsers are set to refuse third party cookies means that you will have an exaggerated number of visitors and a depressed number of page views per visitor, etc.

I'll post a quick vote for Urchin (Google)

It should satisfy all your requirements.

It uses it's own Web server, no need for IIS to serve the reports.

Sorry for the off topic post...
I am looking for some input on stat programs. I have multiple web sites. I currenty am using DeepMetrix .xsp. Unfortunately, they were bought out by Microsoft and I cannot currently get any support. Might be time to move on. What are you all using out there? Cost is defintely a factor. This is for around 15 sites currently.
Thanks for any replies!
