Asunto: RE: [WiX-devs] Releasing Wix 2.0.3930
If there is only one issue holding up taking a newer drop, then I believe we
should get closure on that issue. I think Bob would know the most about
this, so Bob, it'd be great if you could update the information in the bug
(or assign it to someone who should own it). IIRC this is just going to
turn into a documentation issue since wixca.dll is required for the
PrintEULA functionality right?
I agree about the README. Bob (not to pick on you), but would you mind
ensuring that ends up in the .zip files?
So, Frederik, if the issues above were fixed, would you consider taking the
latest drop (Wednesday's build?)?

Subject: [WiX-devs] Releasing Wix 2.0.3930
Hi all,
I propose to release WiX 2.0.3930 and it's 3.0 counterpart, because all
later versions have the issue where wixca.dll is required to run with
WixUI. A bug report on this is filed, but I had no feedback so far so
I'm not sure if this is a regression or just a change in WixUI. If it is
a change, it is not documented in Wix.chm.
I think WixUI is a main reason for people to upgrade to newer versions
of WiX, so providing a stable WixUI experience is important.
(Derek, I am aware of your fix, people depending on it can always be
re-directed to wix.sourceforge.net/releases)
Because 2.0.3930 also mandates mergemod.dll to be present, a breaking
change will be introduced for people not having mergemod.dll present. I
therefore see the need to add a README.txt file. A proposed README.txt
file is added.
Because the contents of the package will be changed, I would change the
revision number and release the new file as "2.0.3930.1".
Feedback is welcome.
Frederik
