Thanks for your pull-comments, I already incorporated your suggestions and 
pushed them to my fork - do you
guys need  a new pull-request for this, or does the old one suffice?

One question:

After I compiled the release-version for testing (non-official release as I do 
not have all necessary preq-requisites
on my computer), I noticed that my version was 22k smaller than the one 
shipping with the currrent RC.

In case you decide not to merge my changes into 3.8, is there any reason I 
should refrain from taking my own
private release built for the burn.exe and putting it into the bin/x86 
directory for use in end-user installers?

And potentially more happy people still targeting XP right now that would be 
very unhappy if there are side effects that we don't understand. That's the 
risk. Usually we mitigate such risk by having more time for more people to pick 
up the changes and verify no side effects.
