The best place would be in a dockapps/ folder, IMO.

For me it would be trivial to add them to the repo and the authors could
send their patches through this mailing list too. More people would
hopefully pay attention to what is going on too, if those authors feel
motivated to also look at wmaker's code.

Perhaps this is possible, but having one dockapp mimicking the systray
seems like a good idea to me.
