Btw, it is not necessary to restart wmii for any configuration changes. Just restart wmiirc, by pressing M-a and selecting it in that menu. Wmii is smart enough to not need to be restarted for configuration changes :)
Thanks. I read the manual on this. However, I first tried to bind the modkey to mod3 which is not bound to any key on my keyboard. Hence, the keys hjkl, p and a did not longer respond to the letters hjkl and p anymore, but to commands in wmii, which is entirely logical. Therefore I could not properly edit wmiirc, hence had to restart X. bye Nicky
