Yes, I agree with your point of view and there should be more than a single voice of view, but it appears the populous is opting to just dumb down and not reach up as on one job I was told..."stop trying to succeed,just do good enough"...I'm still trying to understand that one.

The first comment on that page I linked to was from a woman who said that she gets everything she needs from CNN or MSNBC or Fox News, and all she was missing was a local weather ticker. Well, if our people have so abdicated their role as citizens that they don't believe they need to know what's going on in the community where they live.. then it doesn't matter what newspapers or television stations try. Populace = too stupid. Newspapers should be good newspapers, yes, and local TV news should be good local TV news. But it's not the *job* of these outlets to *convince* people that they need to consume local news and information.
