OK, I found out the problem. For months and months I have been avoiding the "automatic Windows XP updates" and clicking X to get rid of the pop up everytime I boot my machine.
Today, I said "I guess I have some time, ... OK, I'll do it." SO I did, and that's the time WSFTP stopped working. I had this thought to "restore" my machine to a previous state using SYSTEM RESTORE in XP accessories, and so I just did it to a few days before, and now IT WORKS. What did the system update do to make WSFTP not an authorized protocol, I don't know. But now it works, and I will probably seek advice on how to get that PESKY update prompt to leave me alone. Any ideas? I had the same problem for several days. The only thing that worked for me was to get my host to reset my ftp password to a random series of letters and numbers (it didn't work when I tried to create a new password for myself). I never figured out what happened or why. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Grant P.
