10th Annual AIMIA Awards winners announced
The shining lights of Australias digital content and software industries are recognised for their achievements and entered into the global World Summit Awards

Sydney, 09 February 2004 Australias leading industry body for interactive media, the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) www.aimia.com.au, has honored the 16 winners of its 10th Annual AIMIA Awards at a glittering ceremony held at the ABC, Ultimo, on Friday 6 February.

AIMIAs tenth annual awards program reflects the success of the Australian interactive digital content and software development industries and AIMIAs leadership role.  For the first time this year, eight of the 16 award winners will become Australias entries in the World Summit Awards (WSA), a United Nations member states initiative that promotes creative uses of interactive digital media.

Hosted by Triple Js Adam Spencer, the ceremony was attended by more than 500 members of the Australian interactive media industries and leading dignitaries including the Hon. Daryl Williams AM QC MP, Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts and Professor Peter A. Bruck, Head of the World Summit Awards.

The Hon. Daryl Williams AM QC MP used the occasion to make his first public address as in-coming Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.  The speech was used to announce the Digital Content Industry Action Agenda.

Recognising the exceptional strength and diversity of Australias digital content and software industries is an honor and a pleasure, but selecting winners from such a strong field is a near-impossible task, said Louise van Rooyen, Executive Director of AIMIA and Australias representative on the World Summit Award Expert Panel. Little wonder this sector has become a leading source of Australian export revenue.
